The Acosta Family
Dr. Acosta, (with his wife Anita) is a proud "Mossyback" (raised but
not born in Washington State). Their combined families reside in
Tacoma, Puyallup, Oregon, Montana, South Carolina, and Colorado. If
it’s not shopping with Anita, or thrill seeking with dad, Amber is
very much at home with the cats, Smokey & Bandit. Dr. & Mrs. Anita
Acosta (a true native of Tacoma) celebrate their 14th wedding
anniversary in June 2004.
Prior to initiating
education requirements, Dr. Acosta could be seen bending pipe and
turning wire-nuts with McMullen Electric of Puyallup. While enrolled
at Community college, his focus shifted to that of the flight-line
and in the cockpit for the Boeing Company in Everett and Renton.
Upon graduating from Highline Community College (Des Moines) in
1993, the Acosta's moved to San Jose California to attend Palmer
College of Chiropractic West. Returning to Washington state in
1997 he interned with both Robinson Chiropractic and Simmons
Chiropractic (Tacoma), before becoming licensed in 1998.... "I met
Dr. Robinson with the idea that I was going to open a practice on my
own in the Puyallup area. I offered to volunteer my time for a
couple of weeks to get to know him and never left.... it only takes
one meeting with Dr. Robinson to realize how much of a teacher and
inspiration he is.
In 2003, The Acosta's (The Acosta’s
with Daughter Amber and Grandaughter Nekaiya) purchased Robinson
Chiropractic and shifted gears.
With Dr. Robinson working and traveling, it became quite clear that
after 35-years of practice, the office was continuing to have fun
and help many. "More travel and less paperwork" seems to be
the motto for the big Kahuna...... ha.
Memberships include the Washington State Chiropractic Association (WSCA),
The International Chiropractic Association (ICA), the Puyallup
Chamber of Commerce, and Business Referrals Now! (BRN!).
Dr.
Acosta received his first GTO (Grand Tour Organization) award in
2003 after completing 225 hours of Continuing education with the
Parker Seminar organization.
Away from the office, don’t be surprised to see Dr. Acosta fishing
for Salmon, Steelhead, or Trout, or with camera when hiking the many
views of Mt. Rainier.
"I
have a layer of Gortex for every occasion!" he boasts. After hiking
Half Dome in Yosemite Park in 1997, his goal of a summit attempt on
Mt. Rainier was put to the test. In June 2001, Dr.’s Acosta, Byers
(kent), and Renn (Canyon Rd.) made it to 12,600 before avalanche
conditions turned them back. "1800 feet from the top is not bad for
our first attempt, we’ll see what the future brings" he adds. Stay
tuned for more.
The Sanderson Family
Dr. Steve D. Sanderson (with wife Caron)
joined our practice in June 2003. Dr. Sanderson has been
practicing Chiropractic since 1975 and has traded his Ballard
commute to that of the Edgewood community.
A Palmer
graduate of 1975, he mixes it up with our office quite well.
Born in West Seattle and growing up in the Highline school district,
he became interested in Chiropractic as a junior in Evergreen High
School where he graduated in 1971. Entering Palmer in
1972 gave him a taste of Iowa during school time and the
Todd-Lockheed Shipyards while on break. As a hobby he
dealt with outboard hydroplanes and even raced against Chip Hanuar
in the stock hydro class. As Chip ventured into
unlimited hydroplanes, Dr. Sanderson stocked cheese for Hickory
Farms and formed his affinity for the Chiropractic
profession. Raised Lutheran and active in Youth Group, his
experience with innate healing principles of the human body
mixed well with the ability to make patients and friends laugh and
learn about healing thru Chiropractic.
Earning an X-ray scholarship a nd graduating in 1975 set the basis
for a following of the Gonstead technique. Learning from Dr.
Gonstead himself who’s teachings are prominent in the profession
today fits well with our office techniques and disciplines.
The Dr Sanderson has two children, Billy and Leslie. Family
oriented, the Sanderson's enjoy family activities, outdoor
recreation, salt water fishing, hunting, skeet shooting and most
recently motorcycle touring.**** "In my years
of practice, I am increasingly excited at the phenomenal and amazing
results that can be produced from the correction of the Vertebral
Subluxation thru adjustments. As a Chiropractor I love it, and
remain as excited as the first day I received my Chiropractic State
license!.... Dr. Sanderson.
Techniques
|
Chiropractic techniques vary with
practitioner and with Chiropractic specialty. The fundamental
aspects of adjusting the Spinal Column originated in 1895 when
D.D. Palmer (the founder of Chiropractic) adjusted the first
Chiropractic patient (Harvey Lillard) by hand.
Our Doctors use a variety of techniques primarily because of the
variety of patients. From Grandchildren to Grandparents, the
growing and aging spine responds differently with each patient.
Specifically, the techniques used are among the top ten used
throughout the profession. Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, and
Activator techniques are used for the majority of our patients.
Cox, S.O.T., Nimmo, and Palmer methods are available on an
individual basis. Any questions regarding techniques or
specialty equipment used in our office are easily answered by
phone or email. Please don't hesitate to discover Chiropractic,
and what it's possibilities hold for you.
